COVINGTON, Ky. (FOX19) - Covington police say they’ve identified the man whose body was found in the Ohio River Monday morning.

The man is Vernon Edward Burks, 42, of Cincinnati, officials say.

Investigators say Cincinnati police contacted them about a missing person’s report filed Monday, and based on that report, investigators were able to make the positive identification.

Family members were able to confirm the ID also.

Burks’ body was found in the Ohio River near the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge in Covington Monday morning, Public Information Officer for the City of Covington Captain Brian Valenti said.

Officers were called to the area near the bridge at 9:52 a.m.

They pulled the body to shore with the help of the U.S. Coast Guard and Covington Fire Department.

Officials say foul play is not suspected.
