CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The vacant Jackson Brewery warehouse in Over-the-Rhine caught fire early Sunday morning, according to Cincinnati fire officials.

District Fire Chief Thomas Parker said they received a report about a fire in the 200 block of Mohawk Street at around 4:20 a.m.

Parker said a second alarm was requested due to the size of the building and the fire.

At least 60 firefighters fought the fire in the three-story building.

There were fears that the structure would collapse.

“Access is an issue. We were not wanting to put firefighters in front of the building in fear of a collapse. So they are operating from the corners, just actually getting to all areas that are on fire has made it difficult," Assistant Fire Chief Thomas Lakamp said. “The guys have done a great job getting their ladder pipes set up and their master stream set up and have actually made a lot of progress in the last three hours.”

Lakamp said parts of the roof collapsed and parts of the building deteriorated.

The owner of the building told Lakamp that the building was under renovation.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Parker said there were no injuries to fire personnel or civilians.
