A man crossing Colerain Avenue was struck twice and killed late Christmas Eve.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Police say a man was struck twice by cars on Colerain Avenue late on Christmas Eve, first while crossing the street, then again as he lay upon it.

Cincinnati Fire transported Marquis Colbert, 39, to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center shortly after 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 24. He was admitted with life-threatening injuries and would later die there, police say.

According to a release from the department’s traffic unit, the incident occurred at 4406 Colerain Avenue in Northside.

Colbert was reportedly crossing west across the road outside a marked crosswalk when the driver of an unknown vehicle traveling northbound hit him.

Police say that vehicle fled the scene.

Sometime later, a 15-year-old girl driving a 2007 Nissan Altima reportedly struck Colbert a second time as he was lying in the street.

Police say they do not know if excessive speed or impairment are factors in the crash.

A traffic unit investigation is ongoing. Police are asking any witnesses to contact the unit at 513.352.2514.
