CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A 65-year-old woman was shot in the leg at the Sharonville Convention Center, according to Sharonville police.

Police say they responded to the shooting around 3:37 p.m.

Both the victim and the shooter, a 74-year-old man, were vendors at the C&E Gun Show, police say, and were setting up their booths during the incident.

It’s believed the man shot off a round while inspecting a small-caliber gun to put on display. Police say he accidentally released the top slide, not realizing a live round was in the chamber. The gun then discharged a bullet, which hit the floor, traveled around 20 feet and then struck the woman in her leg.

Police do not believe the victim or the shooter knew each other personally.

They say the woman was alert as she was transported to the hospital.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
