Police looking for two people after gunshots hit an Ameristop in Mt. Healthy

WESTWOOD (FOX19) - A 43-year-old man is dead in a shooting in Westwood early Friday, Cincinnati police said.

Homicide detectives were called to the 2800 block of Shafer Avenue about 3:30 a.m.

Police said they received a report of a man shot in the chest.

Stanley Moore Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moore’s family tells FOX19 NOW he was trying to stop someone from breaking into one of their cars when he was shot.

They say Moore was father to three kids, that he loved to travel and was a hardworking man.

Nicole Espie has two children with Moore.

“He was just a wonderful father, hardworking, never ran the streets, good provider, funny," Espie said. “I just want everybody to know that he was a wonderful man and a very good father. The kids are going to really miss him. We are all going to really miss him. He put a good impression on everyone. He impacted a lot of people.”

Cincinnati police spent several hours on Shaffer Road after the incident as they canvassed the scene for evidence.

No arrests have been made, and suspect information was not released.
