DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. (FOX19) - A Dearborn County woman is accused of stealing nearly $5,500 from a peewee football team, court documents say.

Lawrenceburg police say Jill Tibbetts, 39, was booked into the Dearborn County Jail Friday night.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the police were contacted on Jan. 21 by two people affiliated with the 2nd grade Lawrenceburg Football Team who said Tibbets had closed the team’s account at Dearborn Savings and Loan without their consent and transferred the balance of nearly $5,500 to a new account.

The money was raised for the team to attend a football tournament in Tennessee and pay for expenses like meals, uniforms, etc.

Tibbetts allegedly used the money to pay for cable and auto insurance bills as well as shopping at Walmart.

The affidavit says Ohio Valley Screen Printing contacted the team about an unpaid bill of $1,140 from Nov. 20, 2019, which Tibbetts said she had paid.

There was also a bill from the Holiday Inn in Tennessee which had not been paid.

Officer Morgan Hedrick said in the affidavit that he contacted Tibbetts on Jan. 20 and interviewed her at the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

Hedrick stated that Tibbetts admitted to him that she switched the bank account, used the money for non-team related items, and was aware there was an unpaid balance at Ohio Valley Screen Printing.
