COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (FOX19) - Fire officials are in the process of determining the cause of what they describe as a minor fire at the Grippo Potato Chip Company in Colerain Township early Thursday.
Crews said they responded to an automatic sprinkler alarm that went off inside the factory in the 6700 block of Colerain Avenue shortly after 4 a.m.
The first arriving crew found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the structure and immediately began an interior fire attack to contain the flames, according to the fire department.
More firefighters responded and helped them extinguish the blaze.
They said they checked for extension of the fire and ventilated the building to clear it of smoke.
No injuries were reported.
Colerain Avenue is open again but earlier shut down in both directions for about two hours.
Hose lines were stretched across all six lanes from the fire hydrants on west side of the street to the fire building on the east side.
A damage estimate is not yet known.
Fire officials said fortunately it appears the fire has not substantially affected the production side of their operations.
Green Township and North College Hill fire departments assisted the Colerain units on scene.
