Elderly woman killed in Lebanon house fire, coroner confirms

Elderly woman killed in Lebanon house fire

LEBANON, Ohio (FOX19) - An elderly woman died in a Lebanon house fire on Saturday, according to the Warren County Coroner.

Crews arrived to the 5000 block of Hathaway Road just after 4 p.m. Saturday.

Kelli Brown, who lives next door, says she saw smoke coming from the left side of the house and became concerned for her neighbor.

“She’s disabled. She doesn’t really get around really good and she couldn’t really get out,” said Brown.

As firefighters arrived, Brown’s fears were confirmed. Her neighbor did not make it out of the house in time.

“I did see one of the firefighters go to the front door there on the front right of the house and it appeared that she maybe had been trying to get out, I’m not sure,” Brown explained. “She was right there at the door and so that’s when they pulled her out.”

Brown says she saw crews performing CPR on her neighbor but to no avail.

The coroner says they are still in the process of notifying the woman’s family members.

“It’s just awful. It’s very sad. It’s awful. It breaks my heart,” says Brown lamenting the death of her neighbor as crews worked into the early evening to put out the fire.

The Clearcreek Fire Department says the State Fire Marshall is still investigating the cause of the fire.
