Family looking for answers after woman killed in Middletown fire

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (FOX19) - The family of a woman who died in a fire is looking for answers surrounding her death.

Jamaka Calhoun, 28, was killed Friday in a fire on Lind Street, according to family members.

The day after her death, family and friends gathered outside her home lighting candles and leaving flowers in her memory.

As they mourn her death, the family is left wondering why was she killed and how did the fire start.

Middletown Police announced the arrest of Anson Pride on Saturday in connection to Calhoun’s death.

Her sister, Chylicia Rutledge, tells FOX19 Now Pride was trying to rob Calhoun and he was caught on neighbor’s security cameras.

He has been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary, according to police.
