‘Traumatized’ teen says man sexually assaulted her in hotel pool

Man arrested after teen says he forced himself on her at hotel pool

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A man is behind bars at the Hamilton County Justice Center after police say he tried to sexually assault a 17-year-old girl in a hotel pool.

Antoine Mickens, 48, from Indianapolis, is charged with gross sexual imposition.

The girl’s mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, says they were staying in the hotel having come from out of town so her son, the girl’s brother, can get treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

“We went there to stay and have a nice evening, and now my daughter is traumatized,” the mother told FOX19 NOW Tuesday.

The incident occurred Sunday in a Sharonville hotel. Police say Mickens was arrested after the girl said he touched her inappropriately.

The girl’s mother explains she left the pool area Sunday evening to go change.

“I promised and vowed to never let anything like that happen to my kids, and within a three-to-five minute timeframe, it did happen,” she said.

The incident report alleges that’s when Mickens started talking to the teen. It states her back was against the pool wall when Mickens allegedly wrapped his legs around her body and started to touch her.

“My daughter said that he touched her private area with his,” the mother said.

The report says the teen told Mickens she was only 17 years old and still he refused to get off her. It states he held her with his legs for three minutes, preventing her from escaping.

“She was very traumatized,” the mother explained. “In her own words, she feels very violated and she feels like she wants to die.”

The report says the girl’s mother came down and saw Mickens on her daughter, at which point he allegedly let go of her. It also says Mickens was heavily intoxicated.

Mickens was arrested at the hotel that evening.

“She’s disgusted by him,” the mother said. “She says it’s pretty sad when a 17-year-old girl could be in a pool with people around wearing a bikini and some creek has to come take advantage of her.”

Mickens is being held on a $50,000 bond.

His next court date is Thursday, Aug. 27.
