Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mackensie Alexander arrested in Florida

NAPLES, Fla. (FOX19) - Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mackensie Alexander is under arrest on a battery charge in Florida, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Bond was set at $2,000 for Alexander, 26, during his first court appearance in Collier County Circuit Court.

He was also ordered not to have contact with the victim and must turn in any weapons that he has.

Another man, Eveins Clement, was also arrested and charged with battery in the incident.

“We are aware of the situation. We have no further comment at this time,” Emily Parker, a Bengals spokeswoman, wrote in an email to FOX19 NOW Wednesday morning.

Alexander left training camp to assist in the search for his missing father, ESPN reports.

According to the arrest report, officers said when they arrived the victim had a noticeable injury to his lip and forehead. The victim’s son told officers his father was battered by both suspects.

The victim stated that Alexander and Clement arrived at his house to “discuss an incident that had transpired the day prior.”

The arrest report states law enforcement was present upon their arrival to discuss the incident. Once Alexander and Clement were let inside the residence, law enforcement left.

It was then when the suspects began to interrogate the victim regarding the incident, according to the arrest report, and they tried to convince the victim into leaving with them in their vehicle.

“The victim refused to leave with the suspects due to fear of retaliation from the prior incident,” the report says.

According to the report, after the victim continued to refuse to go with the suspects, one suspect held the victim down and the other struck the victim in face several times.

Alexander and Clement fled from the scene when they heard the sound of approaching sirens, and were arrested during a traffic stop.

The report says the incident is related to a previous missing persons case.

Officials with the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office confirm to FOX19 NOW 65-year-old Jean Odney Alexandre is Alexander’s father despite the different spellings of the last name. They also confirm an active search is underway for the man who went missing Monday.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, his wife, Marie Alexandre, told officers he was picked up at 5 a.m. to pick palmetto berries in northwest Okeechobee County by a familiar friend.

The report says the friend called Marie around 5 p.m. to tell her he believed Jean was lost in the woods in the area they were picking berries.

He then picked her up to look for Jean, the report states. They searched for 45 minutes and did not locate him. After returning home, she notified law enforcement.

Marie told authorities Jean did not have a cell phone and was wearing a white shirt and black jeans when he left the house. She also said he had no medical issues.

According to the report, the friend said he had picked up several people, including Jean, to pick berries. He said there were no problems until about 2 p.m. when he could not locate Jean.

The report says he searched for him for about three hours and then contacted Marie.

“He stated that he knew he should have called law enforcement while in Okeechobee but was frightened due to previously being told by law enforcement to leave the area as he did not have permission to pick berries in the area he was,” the reports states.

Authorities then went to the area where Jean went missing in an attempt to canvass the area, but due to barriers and waist-deep waters it could not be completed, they said.

“We can tell you that air and ground searches are continuing today in a northwest area of Okeechobee County known as The Prairie. In addition, detectives are continuing to interview witnesses. Any additional information is part of the active investigation to locate Mr. Alexandre,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
