CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A smoker has been recovered and returned after a Downtown Cincinnati bar said someone stole the very lifeblood of their business.
Kitty’s Sports Bar sits on Third Street up from Paul Brown Stadium. As well as a game-haunt favored among Bengals fans, the family-owned bar is also known for its smoked wings.
Co-owner Billy Watson says he invested $5,000 in the smoker over a year ago to be able to meet customer demand for the wings.
“Just wings, I can put 700 on there at one time,” Watson said.
Surveillance footage showed the smoker sitting on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant at 3 a.m., fastened securely, just like always, Watson says.
Then at 3:05 a.m., a white van pulls over. A driver gets out, walks to the smoker and walks back to the van. Then the driver appears to use bolt cutters to cut the lock chaining the smoker in place.
It took just a few minutes to attach the smoker to the hitch. A couple of cars are seen driving past. Then the person gets in the van and drives away.
Police said one person has since been arrested.
Meanwhile, they are continuing to investigate the theft.
