CINCINNATI (Enquirer) - The Christmas tree at Fountain Square has had an extreme makeover, according to our media partners at the Enquirer. It’s now full, lit up and festive, something most people didn’t think was possible.

Is it a Christmas miracle?

Our sad tree garnered a lot of attention, and several punchlines, when it was delivered a few weeks ago looking haggard and sparse, like a real-life Charlie Brown tree. The perfect metaphor for 2020.

Then, crews from Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) cut the ropes binding the branches, fluffed them out, and voilà!

Enquirer photographer Cara Owsley snapped a photo of the tree in all its glowing glory Thanksgiving night.

But some folks don’t think it’s the same tree. Maybe they added more branches, or extensions.

Turns out, all it needed was a little fluffing. And some attention.

The Fountain Square Tree, which has its own own Twitter account, responded to the photo: “I’m LIT!!!!!”

The official tree lighting ceremony will be virtual this year. Virtual Macy’s Light Up the Square will be broadcast on WLWT Channel 5 at 7:30 p.m. today.

If the tree is a metaphor for this year, then maybe things are looking brighter.

As Linus says, “I never thought it was such a bad little tree.”
