CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Xavier took bragging rights in the Crosstown Shootout once again on Sunday with a 77-69 win over Cincinnati in front of just 300 people at Fifth Third Arena.
Xavier, now 6-0 on the season, has won seven of the last ten and six of the last eight against their rival.
Trailing 62-61 with a little less than six minutes left in the game, the Musketeers took the lead with a Paul Scruggs layup and never looked back ending the game on a 16-7 run.
Scruggs led all scorers with 20 points. Zach Freemantle added 16 points for Xavier. UC was led by Keith Williams with 18 points. David DeJulius pitched in 16 points and 6 assists.
XU head coach Travis Steele improves to 2-1 in the rivalry. UC head coach John Brannen drops to 0-2.
