CINCINNATI (FOX19) - 2021 started off good for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Cincinnati when they seized a shipment found to be containing meth.

On New Year’s Day, CBP officials say Bruno the K9 was alerted to a shipment of handicrafts while searching freight that was coming from Mexico. As officers searched, CBP says they found a white powdery substance hidden inside of a wooden tortilla press.

The white powdery substance tested positive for methamphetamine, according to CBP.

“International trade continues to increase, powering the United States’ economy and the world’s economy,” said Cincinnati Port Director Richard Gillespie. “Our officers and specialists are often the final safety net for American consumers, ensuring not only that legitimate trade continues but also that illegal shipments such as this one are not part of the system.”

CBP says the combined weight of the wooden press and meth was 26 pounds. The seized shipment was bound for Houston, according to CBP.
