CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The suspect police say is involved in the deaths of 3-year-old Nylo Lattimore, and his mother, Nyteisha Lattimore, is now held without bond at the Hamilton County Justice Center, a Hamilton County court judge said.

Desean Brown, 20, appeared in court Monday for an arraignment in a death penalty case.

Deters says Nyteisha was killed on Dec. 5. Her body was found around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 12 near the Purple People Bridge.

Her body was in her Walnut Hills apartment for five days before Brown disposed of it, Deters said.

Brown purchased a body bag from eBay and took an Uber down to the Ohio River, telling the driver it was his clothes because he was moving out, Deters said.

The Hamilton County Coroner said Nyteisha died from stab wounds.

According to Deters, Brown killed Nylo after his mother’s death, but before disposing of her body.

He then put Nylo into the Ohio River alive, Deters said.

The prosecutor said Nylo’s blood was found on a Paw Patrol blanket recovered with Nyteisha’s body.

His stroller was also located in the Ohio River near where his mother’s body was found.

According to the prosecutor’s office, here is a timeline of the crimes:

  • Dec. 5, 2020 – Desean Brown kills Nyteisha Lattimore
  • Dec. 6, 2020 – Desean Brown throws Nylo in the river, alive
  • Dec. 11, 2020 – Desean Brown takes the body bag containing Nyteisha’s body to the Purple People Bridge
  • Dec. 12, 2020– Nyteisha’s body discovered by law enforcement
  • Dec. 13, 2020– Nylo’s stroller located in the river

Nylo’s body still hasn’t been found. He was reported missing since Dec. 4.

Cincinnati police say they suspected foul play after interrogating Brown.

Deters said as far as a motive, it appears to be “some boyfriend-girlfriend stuff,” but said there is no excuse for this tragic outcome.

Brown is charged with two counts of aggravated murder with death penalty specifications, one count of gross abuse of a corpse, and one count of tampering with evidence.

The judge says his next court appearance will be April 14.
