NEWPORT, Ky. (FOX19) - Last year, with gyms closed and people looking for a safe way to stay active, bicycles were flying off the shelf.
Even for the smallest members of your family, they have that too.
But you need to act fast if you want to buy a new bike this year.
“I think we’re gonna run out of bikes sooner than usual for the year,” says Owner Jason Reser.
Reser says it’s been a busy year for his business. He says this is when they would normally see an increase in bike sales with the warmer weather on the way.
Last year, the shop sold out of bikes fast and is still dealing with many items on backorder.
But if you didn’t get a bike in 2020, now might be the time to look again.
“This would be a great time to try again,” Reser adds. “I think if you wait till April or May, it’s going to be tough to find what you want where right now you might find what you need.”
Reser says he would normally cut staff during the slower winter months. That’s not the case this year though.
He actually hired extra people to do service on bikes and put bikes together when they finally shipped to the store.
What if you don’t have the bike in stock? About how long would it take to get that bike in?
“If we don’t have it in stock, we’re probably not going to get it,” Reser answers. “But we do have a lot of bikes on backorder from our vendors. And so if you’re a little patient and you’re willing to maybe take your second choice for a color, chances are we can get you a bike.”
Extra safety protocols are in place at the shop, including limited capacity, face masks, and they ask you to make an appointment for any service on your bike to limit the number of people waiting outside or inside the shop.
But they’re ready to get you that perfect bike so you can go ride the streets, trails, and many bike paths around the Tri-State.
