WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WXIX) - The death of a husband and wife is believed to be a murder-suicide while the coroner’s office works on the official cause, township officials say.

A man and a woman in their 70′s were discovered at a home in the 8800 block of Revere Run sometime around 8:25 p.m., according to Barb Wilson, township spokeswoman.

An incident report identifies the couple as John Wallace, 73, and Assunta Wallace, 72.

Their adult son called 911 from inside the home Tuesday night and told a West Chester dispatcher he found his parents dead in their upstairs bedroom, along with a typed note, according to a copy of a 911 call.

He said he went to their home to check on them after a neighbor contacted him and said they hadn’t taken their trash cans in yet.

He told the dispatcher he last saw his parents around 5 p.m. Monday, grilling on their deck.

“I thought everything was great,” the son said, according to the call.

There was no forced entry to the home, Wilson said.

Ron Kuznar, a neighbor, says he and his wife moved in around the same time the Wallaces did in 1987.

He went on to say John and the entire family were great people.

Kuznar says when he saw the couple’s son at their house that night, he did not think anything unusual about it.

“I saw [the son] come out of the garage and yell out to somebody,” Kuznar explained. “I just thought he was over there because he visits his parents frequently. So, I just thought he was over there visiting, not knowing that actually, something had happened, and then we saw a couple of police cars outside of our house, and I noticed the tape outside of theirs. So, we knew something drastic had happened in the house.”

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
