Makenna’s Law heads to full Senate looking to limit water pressure at parks
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Legislation named after a Tri-State child injured at a water park is headed to the full Senate after it cleared a committee earlier this week.
Makenna’s Law, House Bill 178, is designed to limit water pressure at splash pads, spas, pools and water parks across Ohio.
The law is named after Makenna Day of Milford.
In 2019, the then seven-year-old was injured while standing over a water sprayer at a park.
According to her mother, the water pressure was higher than normal, and it caused a four-centimeter gash on Makenna’s leg.
She underwent surgery and multiple follow-up appointments.
The bill now awaits referral to the Senate floor from the Ohio Senate Rules and Reference Committee.
