OXFORD, Ohio (WXIX) - A kidnapping and aggravated robbery suspect refused to come out of an Oxford apartment, prompting a standoff with SWAT late Monday.

The Butler County SWAT team arrived around 11 p.m. at an apartment on College Corner Pike, near West Vine Street, according to Butler County dispatchers.

The person refusing to come outside was identified as 28-year-old Kalib Stapleton, Oxford police wrote in their report.

The incident that eventually led to the SWAT standoff started around 8 p.m. Monday.

Stapleton allegedly asked the would-be victim if he cut his hair, which the victim agreed to do, according to police.

Following the haircut, Stapleton claimed his platinum teeth that he set down earlier were now missing. Stapleton accused the victim of stealing them during the haircut, the officers’ report claims.

The victim told police Stapleton threatened to shoot him and his family’s house if the teeth were not returned

The victim said he did not remember seeing Stapleton with the platinum teeth during the haircut.

Stapleton then told the victim to come with him to Megan’s Store around the corner, according to police.

While driving, Stapleton stopped the car on the side of the road and asked the victim to help him look for the platinum teeth.

The victim sat his phone on the top of the car as he searched, the report reads. Stapleton grabbed the phone, telling the victim he would not get it back until the platinum teeth were returned, police wrote.

Unable to find the missing platinum teeth, the two got back in the car.

Stapleton allegedly held the victim at gunpoint for the entirety of the drive until they arrived at Park View Arms Apartments, Oxford police said. The victim told officers Stapleton even hit him in the side of the face during the drive.

Once they arrived at the apartment, Stapleton got out of the car and possibly put the gun inside the trunk, the victim said he thought.

Stapleton, now armed with a double-edged knife, told the victim to walk inside one of the apartments, the police report reads.

Stapleton was still convinced the victim had his platinum teeth.

The victim was told to empty his pockets and take off his shoes and pants, he told police.

At one point, Stapleton thought the victim was laughing at him, so he grabbed the knife again and head-butted the victim, police said.

A second person in the apartment told Stapleton he was not going to hurt the victim inside the apartment. The second person told Stapleton to go outside and take a breath.

The victim then managed to get away and run to the KDS Express, where he asked the clerk to call 911.

Officers then responded to the apartment and Stapleton refused to come out.

A SWAT standoff in Oxford ended with two males under arrest early Tuesday, according to Butler County dispatchers.

Eventually, Stapleton came out and was arrested, according to police.

Dispatchers confirmed the scene was cleared before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
