Teen girl killed in Butler County crash identified; 3 other juveniles hurt
WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - The teen killed in Tuesday’s crash in Butler County has been identified.
Hallie Deaton, 15, died after the crash at the intersection of Trenton Oxford Road (Ohio 73) and Wehr Road near Edgewood Middle School in Wayne Township, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Deaton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was a passenger in a Ford Mustang, the report shows.
Sheriff’s deputies and fire crews from five jurisdictions responded to find the 15-year-old trapped inside the car, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Deaton was flown to the hospital after first responders got her out of the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deaton died at the hospital.
The crash involved a total of nine people in two cars, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
Deaton was one of four teens in the Mustang, the crash report indicates. The other three juveniles were taken to the hospital and are expected to be ok.
The other vehicle involved was a Chevy Silverado that had a family of five inside. No one from the Silverado was taken to the hospital.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the cause of the crash.
The Trenton community has set up a gofundme to help the Deaton family with funeral and memorial services.
“That’s how our little small Trenton, how we are in Trenton,” said Katie Fulks. “Everybody is there to have each other’s backs. When there is a tragedy, everybody comes together for the family and unites for the family and the community because it doesn’t only hurt the family, it hurts the community, the friends, and the school peers and I’m sure Edgewood High School is going to have something set up.”
Fulks is leading the fundraising efforts.
She described Deaton as a loving and caring person.
“[The Deatons] a great family,” Fulks said. ”They are pretty much involved out in Trenton. Hallie is a really good person. She’s very caring, very understanding, very lovable. She has a lot of friends out in Trenton at Edgewood High School.”

Edgewood City Schools students are currently on Spring Break. Given the tragic event Tuesday, the district said they will open the high school on Thursday for students who want to talk to a counselor.
There will be a vigil for Deaton at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Trenton City Park.
