CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The Bengals opted for a safety with their first-round pick Thursday.

Cincinnati took Michigan’s Daxton Hill with the 31st pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hill is a hybrid safety/nickel cornerback who ran a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He’s explosive and versatile and can come downhill in run support. Read his NFL draft analysis here.

The Bengals defense ranked 26th against the pass in 2021.

Team needs remain at cornerback, inside linebacker, center, defensive tackle and offensive guard.

The AFC Champion Bengals have seven picks remaining in the 2022 NFL Draft:

  • Round 5 (174)
  • Round 6 (209)
  • Round 7 (226, from Giants)
