CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Cincinnati police said one man is dead following a car accident early Tuesday morning.

Police said 43-year-old Ronnie Givens was pronounced dead near Rhode Island and Rockingham avenues shortly before 3:00 a.m.

According to police, Givens was driving south on Rhode Island Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole.

Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash. Impairment is yet to be determined, they said.

The Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit is investigating.
