Avondale shooting suspect arrested, charged with woman’s murder
Two people were shot on Thursday night.
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - An arrest has been made in the fatal double shooting that happened in Avondale late Thursday evening, Cincinnati police confirmed.
John Williams, 40, is behind bars for allegedly killing 42-year-old Kenyada Wheeler, according to Cincinnati Police Lt. Jonathan Cunningham.
The shooting happened in the 900 block of Burton Avenue near MLK Jr. Park at 11:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers located two gunshot victims: Wheeler, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man in his early 20s, Lt. Cunningham wrote in a press release.
The second victim was shot multiple times and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the press release said.
According to police, Williams ran through the park but was soon taken into custody.
As of now, it is unknown what led up to the shooting.
