Chief: Taylor Mill officer-involved shooting under investigation
TAYLOR MILL, Ky. (WXIX) - Multiple police agencies were called to an officer-involved shooting in Taylor Mill on Sunday.
Taylor Mill and Covington police officers responded to Grand Avenue for the report of a suspect threatening a family member with a knife, according to Covington Police Lt. Justin Bradbury.
Neighbors at the scene said it all began around 3 p.m.
Police say they entered the home and encountered the suspect while he was threatening the family member with a knife and one of the officers fired a shot.
Lt. Bradbury said that Covington police do not investigate its own department’s officer-involved shootings.
Kentucky State Police trooper David Jones confirmed that the Critical Incident Response Team responded to the shooting investigation.
FOX19′s Mike Schell said a coroner’s vehicle was seen leaving the scene.
The neighbor who did not want to go on camera said that the couple has lived in the house for at least 40 years and that police officers have been called there several times in the past week.
No names have been released at this point nor have any details on what led to the confrontation between the two people involved.
Police have confirmed that there is no threat to the public.
