Three schools closed Friday due to illness

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Three local schools are closed Friday due to illness.

They are:

• Calvary Christian School/Taylor Mill
• Middletown Christian Schools
• Union Day Therapeutic School

Union Day already has said classes will resume on Monday.

Absentee numbers at Adams County Ohio Valley School District are on the rise, their superintendent, Dawn Wallace, tells FOX19 NOW.

“We are seeing [absentee] rates as high as 25%,” said Wallace. “In one building today, it reached 30%. We’re seeing it across the board with teachers, more and more teachers are coming down with it.”

Not all districts are dealing with those sorts of numbers, but some school districts said concern starts to grow and conversations with the local health department begin when those absentee numbers reach about that 20% mark.
