FOREST PARK, Ohio (WXIX) - Newly released 911 calls reveal more about the moments after an 18-year-old man was shot and killed in Forest Park Monday night.

According to Forest Park Police, Domynic Elahee, 38, was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Jaden Smith, 18.

Forest Park police responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Northland Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m.

Smith was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and pronounced dead, Lt. Adam Pape said late Monday.

FOX19 obtained three 911 calls, including one made by Smith’s mother, but we did not put the call in this story out of respect for the family. However, it was incredibly emotional and heartbreaking to listen to as the mom is heard screaming and crying for her son.

At least two neighbors on Northland Boulevard called 911. Both described hearing screaming.

“They screamed and then they said, uh, blank shot me,” the first caller told dispatch.” And like, it was loud. I heard the gunshot.”

The other caller claimed to be closer to the shooting, saying, “There was, um, just a shooting. Somebody said they were shot, and I did hear a loud boom. I’m okay, but I think the bullet came through my front door, actually. Somebody screamed.”

We did get in contact with that caller. She did not want to go on camera but told us she and her family are safe after even though a bullet went through their door.

“They screamed, ‘someone just shot me,’ and I could hear them running away. The bullet was really loud though,” she also told dispatch.

Court records filed overnight reveal what police believe led up to the shooting:

Elahee is accused of “knowingly causing the death of Jaden Smith by shooting him in the chest with a handgun,” a detective wrote in an affidavit. “The offense occurred outside the front door of 740 Northland Boulevard Apartment F after a verbal altercation between the victim and the defendant’s 11-year-old son.”

Elahee was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, according to Lt. Pape.

He was charged with murder based on his “admission of the facts, officer’s investigation and death of the victim,” police wrote in Elahee’s criminal complaint.

No other suspects were involved, police say.

Elahee’s lawyer says the shooting was self-defense.

His defense team claims Smith came to the apartment with a gun, but investigators in court said they were unable to find any such weapon.

“This is a classic quintessential self-defense case,” attorney Clyde Bennett said. “This is what the law allows you to do and I don’t think he should be punished by a high bond for doing what the law allows you to do.”

Chaos erupted in Hamilton County Courtroom A during Elahee’s bond hearing Tuesday. Cameras captured people shoving and punching each other, as well as someone making a gun gesture with his hand.

No one was arrested over the brawl.

Elahee will be back in court on May 15 to appear before a grand jury.
