Woman killed in Middletown, man who shot at police identified
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) - The victim in Sunday’s shooting and the suspect who was shot by Middletown police have been identified.
The Butler County Coroner’s Office identified the woman killed in the shooting on Mohawk Street as 53-year-old Consuelo Kerr.
Around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Middletown police said officers were called to the area for a report of a woman who was shot by her husband.
When officers arrived, police said they attempted to negotiate with her 60-year-old husband when the man fired a shot.
Police returned fire, hitting the man.
The suspect died from the officers’ return fire, according to Frontline Advisors’ Dan Hils.
That suspect was identified as Ronald Kerr, 60, the Butler County Coroner’s Office announced Monday.
“He fired a shot into the body of the victim and then yes, he did fire a shot at police; That’s what evidence is showing us right now,” Hils explained.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
Doorbell footage obtained by FOX19 NOW appears to show the moments gunfire rang out during the situation.
Communications between dispatchers and officers on the scene indicate police have been called to the Mohawk Street home for a domestic issue in the past.
The investigation has been handed over to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Anyone with info is asked to call them at 855-224-6446.
