Tri-State driver killed after car crashes into tree

GREENDALE, Ind. (WXIX) - A driver is dead after their vehicle crashed into a tree Wednesday in Greendale.

David Gentrup, 70, Lawrenceburg, died at the scene of the crash on Stateline Road, according to the Greendale Police Department.

Police said they were called to the crash around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Gentrup was unconscious, not breathing, and didn’t have a pulse when officers found him inside a 2005 Toyota Corolla, police said.

Life-saving measures were attempted, police said, but the 70-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greendale police did not provide information on what might have caused the crash.
