Local high school celebrates a century in Clifton

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -- Hughes High School celebrates its 100th year of existence with a re-dedication ceremony Sunday afternoon.

Current and former Hughes students, Clifton Business owners, UC partners, and Rookwood fans gathered to celebrate the school's milestone.

The high school recently underwent a $40 million renovation providing new roofing, wiring, plumbing and upgrades in technology and science labs.

The Hughes High school is home to 144 gargoyles, a seven story tower, and twelve fountains.

The school is the site of the new STEM high school, which opened in last year. STEM is a new approach to education in the Cincinnati Public Schools and stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
