CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Northern Kentucky Attorney and radio personality Eric Deters has been fired from 700WLW.
Deters was a back up host for Bill "Willie" Cunningham, and also hosted his own show on the weekends.
In a statement, Deters said he didn't know why he wasn't going to be on the radio anymore, but speculated that it had to do with controversial comments he made in a video blog. In part of the video Deters said, "If you want to conquer an African nation, send white women and pot."
Deters says the comments are from one of his comedy acts. He says the comments are not reflective of his beliefs, and he has been forgiven by the NAACP.
"I will no longer be doing any weekend or back up hosting on 700 WLW radio," Deters said in the statement. "Backing up Willie has been a blast. I want to publicly thank Willie for being on the radio in the first place...I never planned it. I never expected it. It's been wonderful experience. Not doing it anymore is not the end of the world either.
"Radio has been a forum to express my views and tell stories," he continued. "Who I am, what I am, all the hard work, education, study, living life, family, reading, writing, my cases and business all derives from nothing doing with radio. Not being on radio doesn't change any of that. Radio has simply been a forum."
FOX19 has left a message with 700WLW's general manager's office.
