FRANKFORT, KY (FOX19) - The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) Foundation received a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, which will allow the Kentucky Oral History Commission (KOHC) fund an online database.

The database, entitled "Pass the Word: The Guide to Oral History in Kentucky," will survey oral history, or taped recordings of a person's personal account of an event, across Kentucky.  They will create an online database that is easy for researchers and educators to locate the oral history and interviews in libraries throughout the state.

"Kentucky has been a leader in the field of oral history," says Sarah Milligan, administrator of the Kentucky Oral History Commission. "This project will continue that unique and forward-thinking tradition."

They expect the datebase to be ready for use by 2013.
