FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - A man considered to be a person of interest, is being interviewed by the Boone County Sheriff's Office about the deaths of a married couple who were found in their home on May 29th.

William (Bill) and Peggy Stephenson, both 74, were last heard from on Friday, May 27th. When the couple failed to attend church services that week, a family member went to their home to check on them.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office considers their deaths a homicide.

About a month after their deaths, detectives obtained a photo of a man that was seen speaking to Mr. Stephenson at the T.A. Truck Stop in Florence on May 27th. He contacted the Meriwether County, Georgia Sheriff's Office after he learned authorities were looking for him. Police say he was very cooperative and submitted to an interview with those Georgia authorities.

Authorities did not release the name of this person. The man is a truck driver who was contacted by an acquaintance who saw his picture on television here locally.

Another man was also seen speaking to Bill Stephenson on May 27th. The man, now identified as Sherman D. Angel, a.k.a. Dwayne, 48, is considered a person of interest. He holds an Arizona drivers license, and police call him a transient.

He is believed to be in the area due to a July 20th arrest/release in Kenton County. He was also in the Florence area Memorial Day weekend.

Angel will be interviewed to determine if he can provide information concerning the Stephenson homicides.

AnyoBill Stephenson was a deacon at Union Baptist Church and his wife an organist for the congregation. Bill was known in the community for his work with the Trucker's Chapel ministry at a truck stop on Route 18 just off Highway 75.
