Evacuation ordered after explosives found in backyard

BLANCHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Police say a man found explosive materials on East Cherry Street in Blanchester Sunday afternoon.

Police say Adrian Ayers, 37, was digging a hole in his backyard around 1:00 p.m. when the discovery was made.

Ayers found a metal box containing bullets and what's believed to be "C-4" explosive materials.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad determined that the materials were five and three fourths sticks of dynamite.

The bomb squad took it to Hamilton County were it will be made safe.

The area surrounding the discovery which was two city blocks in Blanchester, including High Street, Grove Street, Wright Street, Broadway Street, Cherry Street, Fancy Street and Main Street were evacuated.
