NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - A bicyclist who had just participated in a ghost ride was taken the hospital after being struck by a drunk driver, according to Newport Police.
The ghost ride was held Tuesday night in honor of Andrew Gast, who was struck and killed by a car on Wilmer Avenue on Aug. 28.
According to a police report, Thomas Broderick, of Covington, was on his way home after the ride when he was hit by Anthony Broughton, 60, of Crittenden. Broughton had a green light and was turning left onto Isabella Street from 11th Street and told police he didn't see Broderick crossing the street in a crosswalk.
Broughton was arrested for aggravated DUI.
Broderick was taken to University Hospital where he was treated. He has since been released.
