Students back in building after bomb threat

INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) - Twenhofel Middle School was evacuated Wednesday afternoon over a report of a bomb threat made by a student.

All students are back in the building and no one was hurt.

Police say a 7th grade student texted another 7th grade student saying there was a bomb in a locker.

The school was evacuated with the help of several nearby agencies.

The responders checked the school and the locker in question and did not locate any explosives.

Students were allowed to return to the school shortly before 2:00 p.m.

The Kenton County School District sent a letter home with students explaining the situation.

Police say they know who the students involved are, but would not released any information on possible disciplinary action.

Making false statements that one has placed a weapon of mass destruction on the property of a school is Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree which is a class C Felony punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison.
