Mother challenges community to stop the violence

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A mother ensures that the loss of her son and others are not forgotten by hosting a community vigil on Saturday.

Hope Dudley's son was murdered in a drive-by shooting in 2007 and statistics from the Cincinnati Police Strategic & Tactical Analytic Review for Solutions (STARS) show that the number of individuals killed in a homicide in Cincinnati has increased by 50 percent since this time last year.

The event, "UCanSpeakforMe" is a message for people to stop the violence for at least 24 hours.

Hope and others who have lost a family member will meet on Reading Road at Section Road and show posters of deceased loved ones on Saturday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m.

The evening will start with a candle lighting followed by a moment of silence.
