NORTH AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - Nearly 1,500 high school students will attend the Anthony Muñoz Foundation's 12th annual Youth Leadership Seminar Wednesday at the Cintas Center.
Organizers say the free event teaches students valuable leadership skills and encourages them to get involved within their school, community and city.
The theme this year is "plugged in" and will focus on providing students with tools to utilize technology and empower others.
"These are our future leaders. As you start to build these ideas into their lives at a younger age, then, when they get to be adults, graduate from college, or enter the workforce, they will have a major impact on our society," said Anthony Muñoz, president of his namesake foundation.
Students will hear from inspirational leaders from the Tri-State, including John Herman and Ben Crawford of Epipheo, a digital storytelling firm headquartered in Cincinnati.
Organizers say attendees will also brainstorm an idea for a community service project they can implement as part of the 2013 Service Challenge.
Additionally, the students will be provided lunch by Chick-fil-A, get to participate in breakout sessions with other schools, exchange Q&A with Hall of Famer Anthony Muñoz, and listen to a live concert by KJ-52.
The Anthony Muñoz Foundation is a non-profit on a mission to impact area youth mentally, physically, and spiritually. The foundations "empowers youth who are struggling, while educating, promoting, recognizing, and rewarding those who excel in all phases of life."
