WEST PRICE HILL, OH (FOX19) - Firefighters rescued 10 people in an early morning apartment fire in West Price Hill.
Crews responded to the 12-unit apartment building at 3792 Westmont Drive just after 5:20 Saturday morning for reports of a structure fire with people trapped on the third floor. Upon arrival, crews reported heavy fire and smoke conditions showing from the third floor, with people trapped on a balcony. A second alarm was requested due to the size of the building and the time of day.
Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior attack on the fire while simultaneously performing rescue efforts to those on the upper floors. The main body of the fire was extinguished within twenty minutes, but the blaze had spread to the roof system. Damages are estimated at $50,000.
The cause of the fire is believed to be food left unattended on the stove. There were no injuries to civilians or to the 52 firefighters called to the scene. The Cincinnati Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
