Dog rescues deaf boy from burning Indy home

On Wednesday afternoon, a fire broke out in an Indianapolis home. At the time, 13-year-old Nick Lamb, who is legally deaf, was sleeping inside.

The teen was excited because he was finally old enough to stay home alone. According to the local NBC-affiliate, he usually wears hearing aids but didn't have them in while he took a nap. As a result, he didn't hear the smoke alarms go off.

That's when Lamb's 2-year-old pit bull named Ace came into the room and licked his face, waking him up to smoke in the room.

Ace and the teen both made it out safely. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Lindsay Bernard, Lamb's mother, called the event "amazing, because if [Ace] wouldn't have been there, he probably wouldn't have even woke up."

Ace is now being hailed as a hero. Read WTHR's full report here: http://bit.ly/1oZYzOd

Wright recruited the help of her friend Katherine Burnand, and after more than 40 hours of work and 20,000 loom bands later, they created the rubberband fashion.

The auctioned dress, which comes in a size 4-6, was placed on eBay for $85.
