CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Lauren Hill has shot her last basket for the Mount St. Joseph University women's basketball team.

Head Coach Dan Benjamin thanked the NCAA Wednesday for bringing Lauren's dream to life and announced that, from now on, she will serve as an honorary coach for the team.

Lauren Hill scored her tenth point Tuesday at home versus The College of Wooster. Mount St. Joseph won that game by one point, 66 to 65.

Hill has quickly become a national celebrity athlete and champion for DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a rare form of brain cancer.

She received news about her diagnosis just 49 days after she committed to Mount St. Joseph to play basketball. After that, it was her dream to make sure she got to play at least one game of college basketball.

Since she began spreading awareness on social media through her #LayUp4Lauren campaign, Lauren has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for The Cure Starts Now, an organization committed to the research and treatment of brain cancer.
