(RNN) – The U.S. Secret Service detained a man for attempting to fly a drone over the White House fence.
The suspect was not successful, and it was unclear if he was trying to take photographs or to fly the drone at the White House.
Security locked down the building for about an hour.
President Barack Obama is meeting with Persian Gulf leaders at Camp David and is not at the White House.
In February, another man was flying a drone blocks away, lost control and the drone landed on the White House lawn. That man was later cleared of charges.
Drones are hard to detect by radar because they fly at low altitudes.
In April, Douglas Mark Hughes, a Florida mailman, landed a gyrocopter on the U.S. Capitol grounds to deliver a note about campaign finance reform.
