CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Streetcar delivery was set to a delay Tuesday due to issues brought up in the testing process.

According to streetcar project executive John Deatrick, the delay will not affect the start date of September 15, 2016 nor the budget for the project.

Members of the streetcar staff are negotiating a delivery date with CAF who's the company that's currently working on the streetcars in Elmira, NY, according to respresentatives.

Council Members are able to breathe a little easier knowing that this delay won't completely leave them in the hole.

"For every day they are delayed with the first street car, it's a thousand dollar a day fine, and then if the second streetcar is late and the third it's a
five hundred dollar a day fine on top of that," said Council Member Amy Murray. "So it will continue you will occur and that's what's been in the contract."

The city still has its $1 million contingency fund for other unforeseen problem.
