Video: Fast-food worker caught rubbing burger bun on floor

FOX19 - A Checkers restaurant employee was caught on camera appearing to throw a hamburger bun on the floor, rub it around and then continue to prepare it.

The video nauseated thousands of fast-food diners after it was posted to Facebook and YouTube on Tuesday. In the 20-second clip, a female worker rubs the bun on the floor before returning it to the counter to add sauce and pickles.

The incident reportedly took place last month at a Baltimore-area Checkers.

A spokesperson for the fast-food chain said she was "appalled and disappointed" by the video and claimed the soiled burger never made it outside the kitchen.

"While the employee is very apologetic, these actions are completely unacceptable and do not reflect our values or commitment to food quality," said Lori Malcolm, Checkers senior vice president of human resources.

Malcom said the employees involved in the video no longer work for the company.
