INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) - A 27-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Madison Pike early Wednesday, police said.
Crews were called to the dark stretch of road near the Kenton County Police Department for a report of a pedestrian struck and not breathing at 3:40 a.m., according to Kenton County dispatchers.
Ryan Boyle of Walton died at the scene, according to police.
Police say the driver of the striking vehicle, a 2016 Dodge Ram truck, stopped, cooperated and was released. Charges are not likely, they said.
Officers are still investigating why Boyle was in the road at the time of a collision.
Madison Pike is back open after lane restrictions most of the morning while police investigated.
