Police ID woman found dead in Covington road

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - An investigation is underway after a 35-year-old Covington woman's body was found in the middle of the street at Decoursey Avenue and West 30th Street early Thursday, police officials said.

A passerby called 911 and reported seeing the body just after 4 a.m., according to Kenton County dispatchers.

Officers found Chasity Star Hamilton of Covington dead in the road when they arrived, said Covington Police Chief Bryan Carter.

The circumstances surrounding her death are unknown,

Decoursey Avenue was shut down in the area while authorities investigated. The road has reopened.

The scene was cleared after the woman's relatives came to the scene and appeared to identify her body.
