Amelia man wins national beard contest

FOX19 - Talk about a really good hair day!

Cincinnati-native Garey Faulkner is bringing home a first place prize from this year's National Beard and Moustache Championships.

Faulkner took the top spot in the Best Freestyle Beard category at the competition, which took place in Nashville over Labor Day weekend.

You may recognize the Amelia High School graduate from various appearances at Cincinnati sports events.

Faulkner has painted a Reds 'C' in his beard in honor of the All Star Game, sported stripes for Bengals football, and even shaped the facial hair into a net to support UK Wildcats during college basketball season.

The National Beard and Moustache Championships started in 1990, with the goal of honoring the world's greatest facial hair, all while raising money for charity.
