CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - One local costume shop is ordering more of a particular costume for Halloween. Which one is it? A gorilla suit. The internet has been buzzing about Harambe possibly being a popular costume this year.

Ray Cappel said he noticed after looking at his inventory list, that the gorilla suit had been selling more than usual before the Halloween rush.

"Well, we are going to be ordering more gorilla suits because we did our original order back in February and then all of a sudden in spring, we noticed that the gorilla suit started to pick up in sales," he said.

Cappel said reordering this particular costume is not something that the store usually has to do.

He said there are a number of reasons why the suit could be selling. One of those reasons, the shooting death of Harambe at the Cincinnati Zoo.

"When we saw the surge in sales it tended to be younger type customers, maybe in their late teens, early twenties, mid-twenties, the more partying types of people," Cappel said.

People are even taking to social media about wearing gorilla suits this Halloween in remembrance of Harambe.

FOX19 Now took to the streets of Cincinnati to get peoples thoughts on using the costume to honor Harambe.

“I think it could be fun, but I think if you make the costume too in reference to exactly what happened it might actually offend someone,” said
Jason Desantis.

“I don't find it offensive, not offended by it all,” said Gordon Horn.

Cappel said the suit isn't an official Harambe costume.

He said typically guys go for the full out suit, but there are accessories if women want to wear it.

"If you even want to turn it into even a female gorilla suit, you can do that by wearing a tutu with it or wearing other accessories that would go with it," he said.
