Police: Pedestrian hit, killed by car while paying for parking at downtown Cincinnati lot
CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A pedestrian was hit and killed after a two-car crash in downtown Cincinnati Friday, police said.
Police were dispatched to the scene of a two-car crash at Eighth and Sycamore streets, at around 11 a.m.
Two cars collided as they were traveling on Eighth Street. The impact of the crash sent one of the cars off the road into the parking lot.
Freeman Durham, 58, struck a vehicle being driven by 71-year-old Sharon Felton.
After Felton's vehicle was struck, she struck a construction fence, drove across the lanes of travel and entered into the parking lot.
Barbara Vandenbroeck, 73, was paying for parking at the shelter when one of the cars struck her and the paying booth, police said.
Felton and Durham were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
Authorities said the woman was taken to UC Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said excessive speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
