Woman caught selling food stamps speaks out as warning to others
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A woman is sharing her story as a warning to others after being caught trying to sell her food stamps.
"It actually happens a lot," the woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said. "I see it all the time on Facebook"
This Cincinnati resident lost her EBT card privileges for the next year after posting to Facebook about selling her food stamps.
"My child's father had just recently lost his job," she said. "We're both employed [now], but at the time we were struggling and a lot of people, believe it or not, buy food stamps."
She said she sold them to help with some of their other expenses and someone caught her in the act.
A screenshot was submitted to Job and Family Services. They have now suspended her food stamps for the next 12 months.
"At the end of the day I was selling food stamps," she said. "There was no way around it, for real. It was a post on Facebook, it was stupid."
The woman shared the paperwork filed by Job and Family Services on Facebook as a warning to others who are selling or considering selling their food stamps.
